MEET CHOCOLATIER BEN MARSHALL
Cocoa Ben's was established in 2016 by founder and chocolatier, Ben Marshall and specialises in providing handmade, luxury chocolates for fellow chocoholics!
All my chocolates are lovingly handcrafted in my own kitchen, giving each one a unique and personal touch that you won't find on the high street.
I was brought up in a restaurant, love good quality food and believe in local, ethical and sustainable produce. Chocolate especially, has always been a passion of mine and I’m so excited to have the chance to share my enthusiasm through Cocoa Ben’s. I source my chocolate from a family run business in Colombia and they use exclusively 'Fino de Aroma' cocoa, which represents the top 8% of beans based on their rarity and complex flavour profile.
My professional background is actually in healthcare, but early in 2015, I started making chocolates as a hobby. They got the seal of approval from my father, who’s a chef, so I kept going, experimenting with different flavours and techniques. I’d been thinking of turning my hobby into a business for a little while, but the idea was firmly cemented when I visited a cocoa plantation in the Caribbean island of Grenada (the Isle of Spice!). It was here I really began to appreciate chocolate’s complexity and versatility.
I aim to bring out the best in each bean’s natural charm with a range of truffle and bars with a real focus on quality and flavour.
It’s early days yet and we’re still very small, but hopefully, just like the humble cocoa bean becomes something that everyone loves (with a little help, of course) you’ll help Cocoa Ben’s do the same!
